Derrick Carter at Tribal Funktion - October 1998

So, as promised, here is Derrick Carter's set at Tribal Funktion from October 1998. Recently recovered and rediscovered. Listen to Part 1 and Part 2. Some real vintage moments here. Track titles are sparse but then again so is our memory. Please feel free to add a title if you know it, although more often than not there's at least two records spinning at any one time. Stick that sync button up yer arse, so to speak (I doubt they even existed then). Sonic time travel at it's best from one of house music's legends. Chicago and Edinburgh never felt so good together. We've had a few requests of late for some recordings from the club. And having borrowed another DAT player at last that seems more possible than ever. Stay tuned!! 

In the meantime old timer George whipped up a quick mix to get you in the mood. Lovingly recorded on one side of an actual TDK SA-90 cassette to help furnish your ears with that genuine retro feel. Have a listen here.

New/Old George T vinyl release - "I'll Do Anything EP"

Hello again. Been a while but now for some news. One of Tribal Funktions residents George T has been spotted in London releasing undiscovered 90's gems from his vaults for Greco-Roman Records. Currently available on 12" vinyl and getting some fine reviews it will be available for download from the usual outlets fairly soon if not already. With the sleeve designed by master embroiderer Laura Lees you could not hope for a finer package. Say hello to George on Facebook should you feel inclined, he has been known to get a bit lonely. And likely to do anything.

Film

I promised this ages ago. A dusted down VHS tape of Tribal Funktion, filmed back in 1997. September the 13th to be exact, Cajmere, a stunning evening. There is an hour and a half on the old video tape but I thought I'd post the last ten minutes. At least for now. The full length film was shot by Kristina Glitters and is in three unedited sections. It's very natural, charming, I see many old faces (or should I say 'young faces') and the mood is ecstatic. I want to be there now, everyday, for ever and give you all a big kiss! Gx
